Signs of the Times

Preaching at All Souls' Church, the Rev. J. H. Ward, the vicar, said ... there were in Southport many adherents of what was called Christian Science. Now Christian Science had this to be said about it in its great favor. In the first chapter of Mrs. Eddy's book they would read what she had to say about prayer; then read in the New Testament what was said about prayer, and trying to understand something of the mental operation that went on between the diseased and Christ they would see that Mrs. Eddy in the chapter had got very near to the heart of the truth.
