Post and Mercury

In your issue of Monday last appears the report of an address on Christian Science, which expresses certain misconceptions of the subject; so I beg the courtesy of your columns to correct any false impression that may have been conveyed.

The first tenet of the Christian Science church is: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life" (Church Manual, p. 15). Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," does not in any way pretend to take the place of the Bible, but is a commentary on it that has removed the veil of traditional interpretation which has hidden so much of the Bible's vital spiritual meaning and power as the Word of God.

This more spiritual view has enabled Christian Scientists, at any rate in some degree, to do the works which Jesus said should follow them that believe on him.
