I am grateful for the wonderful healing I received a few years ago through the study of Christian Science.

In 1929, after having an operation in which the gall bladder and appendix were removed, I did not regain my strength. Several months later the specialist told me not to work, but just to rest. He also said that he could do nothing more for me. I was very much discouraged at the time and decided to live out in the open air day and night. Two months of this was of no help, and after trying material remedies I grew worse daily. I went to another specialist, who said I had an inward goiter, anaemia, heart trouble, and the same stomach trouble which I had had before the operation.

Three years later, in my extreme need and as a last resort, I decided to try Christian Science. I had belonged to an orthodox church for years, but I told my pastor I was leaving for one year to try Christian Science. It was at this time that I began in earnest to study Science and Health, together with the Bible, knowing that God would not forsake me, but would guide me in the straight and narrow path. Then, with the help of a practitioner, I was uplifted and received more understanding, and my whole outlook on life changed. Our Leader tells us on page 1 of Science and Health that "desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds." The goiter disappeared without my knowing it.
