In your issue of the fourth instant you published an extract from Truth headed, "Christian Science and the law," which stated that the position of Christian Scientists in regard to the law was somewhat equivocal.

There is no doubt about the position of Christian Scientists in regard to the law. The point of law in question is quite definite; in England, an adult may rely upon any method of treatment he desires. And, sir, since you thought your readers would be interested in the extract from Truth regarding Christian Scientists, I am sure you will publish this short statement and comment from a Christian Scientist briefly explaining some of the questions raised.

I do not suppose that any Christian would deny that God can heal the sick. Christian Science demonstrates that God does heal the sick today, as the sick were healed in Jesus' time, without material means; and the condemnation of those who believe that Jesus' method of healing is more trustworthy than any other method and would rely upon it, is strange in a Christian country. Beginning in Genesis, when Abraham's prayer to God healed his friend Abimelech, the assurance of the healing power of the divine presence continues throughout the Bible; and James in his epistle assures us that "the prayer of faith shall save the sick."
