From a letter that appeared in your issue of September...

Democrat and Chronicle

From a letter that appeared in your issue of September 19, it might be deduced that Christian Science is derived from the non-Christian religions of the Orient. Any attempt to trace the origin of this religion of pure metaphysics to speculative theories of human philosophy is but an acknowledgment that one has failed completely to grasp the fact that Christian Science is founded absolutely upon the divine theology of Christ Jesus. In speaking of her discovery, Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 110): "In following these leadings of scientific revelation, the Bible was my only textbook. The Scriptures were illumined; reason and revelation were reconciled, and afterwards the truth of Christian Science was demonstrated."
