When I first began the study of Christian Science, about...
When I first began the study of Christian Science, about eight years ago, it was not for physical healing but to overcome many mental problems. Worry and fear of lack soon disappeared from my thought as a result of my study of Mrs. Eddy's works and the help of a practitioner. In like manner the smoking habit and the habit of drinking occasionally in a social way were destroyed in a few months' time.
But some doubt persisted in my thought as to my faith in relying on Christian Science for healing in the event of extreme physical distress. While I was certain of the healing power of Christian Science I was not so sure of my faith. About two years ago, however, this doubt was dispelled when I placed entire reliance on Christian Science to heal injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
While I was driving my car on a trip, about one hundred miles from my home, my automobile suddenly left the highway, rolled over twice, and was completely demolished. My companion and I were forced through the top of the sedan when it went over the first time and were thrown free of the car. Neither of us lost consciousness, although we were badly dazed. My first thought was, God is my Life, which I kept repeating until help came. Shortly, passing motorists took us to a near-by town, and in a few hours I was returned to my home.
