Profound gratitude for Christian Science impels me to...
Profound gratitude for Christian Science impels me to offer the following testimony in the hope of blessing others as I have been blessed through our periodicals.
So deep was the error in which I seemed ensnarled that happiness was continually overthrown by tears and general weakness. Gradually, as I awakened to the realities of life, and began to understand what was required of me as a unit in the great plan of working out perfection, I found my way through the reasoning aspect of the literature. "And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but ... to keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes?" In almost every instance when I found myself depressed, or indulging in self-pity, it was the comforting arm of the periodicals that reversed the situation and brought true expression. The work of our revered Leader stands a beacon light! To me, our literature is the hand of compassion reaching human reason, inspiring us to higher understanding.
I have overcome yearly attacks of bronchitis so severe that my voice completely failed, generally for several weeks. This has been overcome to the extent that I have been able to sing at all times. The healing came at a time when my name was on a program. At noon the day before, I could only whisper. That evening all was well, and the program proceeded in good order the next day. The strong desire to prove the truth for those around me brought immediate healing. Spinal curvature has been adjusted, and indigestion is a thing long forgotten. A great desire for endurance has been satisfied.
