The College Boy or Girl
[Written Especially for Young People]
The young man or woman who has left home for the first time to attend college finds a new world opening out before him. If he has had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and therein has grasped the teachings of Christian Science, and truly desires to put them into practical use, he finds that he has in this teaching a most valuable aid during the period of adjustment to college life, and indeed all through his college course.
Many young people today are confused in their thought of God, life, the hereafter, and the like. In their attempt to find a logical answer to their questions, they are asking what others believe. No young Christian Scientist can overestimate the good he or she may do in answering the questions of his fellow students with the assurance of conviction, thereby showing them that God is Love, imparting goodness, joy, abundance, intelligence, and that to Him they can availingly turn for help in every problem.
The boy or girl who has attended the Christian Science Sunday School has learned how to take Christian Science into the classroom and to apply its teachings in preparation of schoolwork. One young student, who was ready to stand firm for the truth after entering college, was given an outside reading assignment on "Mental Hygiene." Leading a busy college life and honestly desiring to use her time wisely, she decided that surely Christian Science had taught her more about healthy thinking than all the textbooks she had been asked to read on the subject. She wrote the thesis, employing her understanding of Christian Science, and received the highest mark in the class.
