Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for my family.
I had been failing in health for eight years with what culminated in chronic stomach trouble. Everything was tried that was suggested to me, even an operation. This left me in a much weaker condition. When I was able to be about again the physician's advice was that I go to the country, where I would get pure air and fresh food and would also get away from home cares. It was decided that I should go to California, where my mother and two sisters lived. Besides being with them, it was thought the climate would be beneficial. This was in the spring of 1915. Although I was able to walk a little, I weighed only fifty-seven pounds. I had been there nearly three weeks with no change in my condition, and was losing faith in the climate, in the medicine I had taken along, and in other things that were supposed to help, and was becoming very despondent, when a sister came and asked me to try Christian Science, through which she had been healed of typhoid fever.
During all those years of semi-invalidism I had had faith that there was something that would heal me if I could only find it. So I accepted Christian Science with the same faith that I had the material remedies. When my sister returned home, a distance of twenty miles, she asked a practitioner to give me absent treatment.
