In reply to "E. W. F.," writing in your issue, let me say...

Bayswater Chronicle

In reply to "E. W. F.," writing in your issue, let me say that to "implement" means "to carry into effect, fulfill, accomplish" and to "blaspheme" means "to speak in an impious or irreverent manner of God or of sacred things." How, then, can it be "arrogant blasphemy" to carry into effect the teachings of Christ Jesus by obeying his command to heal the sick and reform the sinner? Our critic must remember that Christ Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father."

Mrs. Eddy never visited England, and therefore he could never have heard her speak at the Bryanston Street Hall, where Christian Scientists used to meet thirty years ago. This is simply a matter on record.

Mr. Quimby was a magnetic healer to whom Mrs. Eddy applied for treatment. She was relieved at first by his treatment, but then had a relapse. She learned that his methods were not Christian, and it was after his death that she discovered Christian Science, when, after she had been severely injured in an accident, she was healed by reading the account of the healing of the palsied man recorded in the ninth chapter of Matthew.
