For twenty-five years I suffered from severe bronchial...
For twenty-five years I suffered from severe bronchial catarrh, and during that period I had treatment from various physicians. They all gave me medicine containing morphine, which brought me scarcely any relief and so weakened my mentality that I was unable to think at all clearly. Every winter I lay ill for several weeks, and by the end of seventeen years I had lost hope of being healed.
I first heard of Christian Science some fourteen years ago, but I was not ready then to accept this wonderful teaching. Five years ago, however, the seed which had been sown sprang up, and I became a student of Christian Science. I was filled with faith and hope that I should be freed from this trouble. I began to attend regularly the Wednesday evening meetings and the Sunday services, and to read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. As a result of my renewed faith and greater trust in God I was healed of nervousness, sciatica, and also an intestinal complaint. The bronchial catarrh improved, to be sure, but it did not yield entirely. Accordingly, in December, 1932, I went to a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly worked for me. He helped me to overcome my fear of fog and cold, and I learned that God preserves and protects us. Within a short time I was completely healed.
For this healing I am deeply grateful. Only those who have been in the same situation can perhaps understand my great joy. From the bottom of my heart I am grateful to God, to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, also to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am grateful also to the practitioner, and for the fact that our child can attend the Sunday school and that both my dear husband and I have become members of a branch church.
