The Limner

Crudely we copy, rudely we outline
The model given in the mount divine.
But Love will make the vision clearer still,
Break through the heavy fog of human will,
Brush oft away the cobwebs of conceit,
Help us accomplish what we now defeat;
Will, with swift hand, erase the wavering line,
Till strength and beauty in each stroke combine;
Will shadows soften, errors quick efface;
Lend light divine to add a touch of grace,
Until we learn to fashion with more care,
More oft with the great Master's work compare;
Gain hope that are the setting of the sun,
We'll hear with joy the Father say, "Well done!"
