Seven Messages to The Mother Church

The Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy announce the publication of a new volume containing seven Messages to The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, which appear in several of the shorter writings and in Prose Works. The purpose of the new volume is clearly set forth in the following quotation from the Preface:

These Messages to The Mother Church are as pertinent to the solution of the problems of today, be they problems of the individual or of church organizations, as when they were written. For this reason this compilation of seven Messages is now made available in convenient form, in the hope that from the loving counsel of our Leader therein contained, all who are engaged in the activities of the Church may draw new inspiration and guidance, and so add to their spiritual equipment to carry on in all parts of the world the work of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

Librarians should make a note of this new publication on page 17 of the catalogue of Mrs. Eddy's Works. The new book consists of 128 pages, size 5 3/8 x 7 5/8 x 3/4 inches, bound in brown cloth, title stamped in gold, price $1.00. Orders and remittances should be sent to Harry I. Art Panels on Glacé Plaques Ready to Hang

For several years art panels bearing selections from the writings of Mary Baker Eddy have been published in form for framing. The same panels are now available in the form of glacé plaques ready to hang on the wall.

By a new process each panel is mounted on a laminated wood back and the face covered with a transparent surface, which enhances the colorings and seals the panel from dust and damage. Narrow bands of black or of black and gold form a border, or frame, under the glassy surface. Each panel is supplied with a hanger.

Panels now available in this form are as follows:

New Editions of Mrs. Eddy's Writings in Blue and Brown Morocco

In response to requests from the Field, the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy have authorized the publication of "Unity of Good and Other Writings" and "Christian Healing and Other Writings" in blue and brown morocco, uniform in size and style with the standard pocket edition of Science and Health.

The new editions are printed on Oxford India Bible paper and are bound in the blue pebble grain morocco used in blue pocket editions of the textbook, and in the autumn brown, antique stipple grain morocco of the Progress edition of Science and Health, round corners, gilt edges, limp, price $3.50 each.

Librarians are requested to make a note of the new editions on page 13 of the catalogue of Mrs. Eddy's works.

Moon Type Edition of "Christian Healing"

Announcement is made by the Publishers of Mrs. Eddy's works of the publication of "Christian Healing," a sermon delivered by Mrs. Eddy in Boston, in the Moon system of type for the blind. It is worthy of note that this is the first religious work to be produced in Moon type in the United States. The plates were made and the book embossed in the plant of the Braille Institute of America, in Los Angeles, for the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy.

This new book for the elderly blind appears in a volume of 56 pages, embossed on both sides of the page. The first page following the title page gives the complete Moon alphabet, thereby furnishing a chart with which to teach this simple system of reading by the finger. The Moon characters are formed of letters or parts of letters of our English capitals, and so heavily embossed as to render them tangible to those who are unable to distinguish the puncti-form characters of the Braille system of type for the blind.

The new Moon type edition of "Christian Healing" is bound in serviceable black Buckeye paper covers, saddle stitched, with title in gold on cover, price 60 cents a copy, Reading Room price, 54 cents. Articles, Poems, and Testimonies

The Christian Science Publishing Society accepts religious articles and religious poems only from members of The Mother Church. Religious articles intended for the Journal, Sentinel, or Monitor should be sent to the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department, One, Norway Street, Boston, Massachusetts. Preferably, contributors should correspond for themselves. A memorandum for contributors of religious articles and poems can be obtained from this department by request.

Convincing testimonies of Christian Science healing are also desired. Each testimony should be verified by three members of The Mother Church who either know of the healing or can vouch for the integrity of the testifier. If, however, the testifier is not acquainted with three members of The Mother Church, his affidavit may be sufficient; but in this case he should, if possible, obtain verification from one or two members of The Mother Church. The testifier himself should obtain the verifications. Complete addresses of the testifier and those who vouch for him should be furnished with each testimony.

Source of Quotations

Contributors to the periodicals of articles, poems, and testimonies are asked to note that the source of all quotations, direct or indirect, should be given. The name of the author and of the work from which any quotation is taken, together with the page, should be specified.

CHURCH TENETS FOR USE OF BRANCH ORGANIZATIONS

The Tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, for the use of branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, are printed on sheets containing space for adding the application forms for membership in branch organizations, or extracts from their by-laws. This additional printing of branch church data is to be provided by each church according to its needs. Because the Tenets of The Mother Church are copyrighted, branch organizations may not print these Tenets as part of their by-laws or on application forms for membership in their organizations.

Tenets in large and small sizes will be supplied through the Clerk of The Mother Church as follows: Price for Tenets in lots of 100, 75 cents; this includes orders for 100 large or 100 small size Tenets, or 50 large and 50 small Tenets. Minimum orders for lots of 50 Tenets, either size, 50 cents.

The large size Tenets are for application forms, the small size for binding into booklets. Unless otherwise specified the large size will be sent.

The Tenets may also be obtained in either size, printed on alternate pages in English and German, English and French, English and Italian, or English and Polish.

Per Capita Tax as provided in the Church Manual, Article VIII, Section 13, id due annually from "every member of The Mother Church," and "shall be forwarded each year to the Church Treasurer." This tax of "not less than one dollar" may be paid at any time during the fiscal year (May 1, 1935, to May 1, 1936), but should be forwarded preferably during the six months' period from October, 1935, to March, 1936, inclusive. When remitting, please inform the Treasurer of any change in your permanent address.

Contributions to the Charitable Institutions Fund, Promotion and Extension Fund, The Christian Science Benevolent Association in Boston, The Christian Science Pleasant View Home in Concord, New Hampshire, Christian Science Benevolent Association on Pacific Coast, Reconstruction and Furnishing Fund, and to the various other Funds of The Mother Church, such as the General Fund and Endowment Fund, are acceptable.
