Christian Science was introduced into our home twenty-five...

Christian Science was introduced into our home twenty-five years ago after physicians had pronounced my mother incurable. After being lovingly convinced that she would not have to give up her religious belief—which was Judaism—in order to have treatment in Christian Science, she gladly consented, with the result that she was healed instantaneously. Being only a carefree child at the time, I did not take my mother's healing seriously. Some members of our family accepted the Science literature, and read it, but because of the opinion of friends and of what I had been taught I was much opposed to the name Christian, hence was not interested.

As years passed I found myself a wife and mother, encountering trials of every sort. I had little faith in drugs, due to my mother's healing in Science, and my faith in God seemed very small because of lack of religious training. I soon had to make my decision as to how I should serve God; and it was through an experience of childbirth that I took my stand for the truth as revealed in Christian Science. When our baby was fifteen months old a distressing skin disease appeared on one side of her face, over her ear, and even on her neck. The skin was raw and inflamed for weeks, and I was forced to cut away all the hair on that side of her head. We tried every remedy anyone suggested, but with no results. My husband, who was not interested in Christian Science, although loving and respectful, insisted that we take her to a baby specialist, which we did, but there was no improvement whatever. At this point we had a talk with a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly worked for the baby; but it was made known to me that an irritable, anxious, fearful disposition expresses itself in irritation. As I began to grow in understanding and to lay aside unpleasant traits of character, the healing took place, for which I thank God. During this time warts of years' standing in the palm of my hand disappeared.

In bringing up our two little girls I am glad to know that they are really God's, that He always cares for them, and that I am just a humble servant in His household. I thank God for His love toward His creation. I am grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way; to Mrs. Eddy, and to Christ Jesus. I am proud to be worthy of membership in The Mother Church. I am truly grateful for the Publishing House, which sends spiritual food to the world, and to the Committee which makes up the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, which play such a great part in helping us to gain an understanding of the truth.
