Righteous Aspirations

STUDENTS of Christian Science may sometimes feel that because of a lack of educational advantages in their earlier years they are hampered in their efforts to grasp and apply the teachings of Christian Science. But when the individual catches the first gleam of spiritual understanding there is born in his consciousness a desire for better and holier things; and the spiritual light which awakened that desire for good carries within itself the power to supply good.

No matter how deeply a person seems to be plunged into error, no matter how many claims of limitation may seem to bind him, let him begin the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and he will find that Christian Science is meeting his needs, whatever they may seem to be. So if his need is for a broader, better education, let him know that his need is being met, for when he commences the earnest study of this textbook he enters the way of true education.

In the Preface to Science and Health (p. x) we read, "No intellectual proficiency is requisite in the learner, but sound morals are most desirable;" and again on page 89: "Mind is not necessarily dependent upon educational processes. It possesses of itself all beauty and poetry, and the power of expressing them."
