WHEN Jesus walked upon earth, he solved all problems metaphysically. He met hatred with love, force with gentleness and kindness, unbelief with understanding, and sin with purity. He overcame the negative beliefs which indicate lack of good through his understanding of the everpresence of God, good, through his affirmations of the truth which mortal mind denies.

In Galatians we read, "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance." These were some of Jesus' spiritual weapons. He could use this spiritual equipment because he understood God as Spirit, Mind, and was continuously conscious of His presence. The consciousness of divine Mind's ever-presence excludes belief in the presence of anything unlike Mind. Consequently Jesus' consciousness represented his knowledge of God as Mind and of His expression, the infinite spiritual universe, the image of Mind.

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."
