This testimony is given with the desire to express gratitude...

This testimony is given with the desire to express gratitude for Christian Science and to Mary Baker Eddy, who, through her meekness and perseverance for the Cause of Christian Science, has given to the whole world a beautiful, practicable, understandable religion, which, when rightly applied, solves every human problem.

Christian Science has met my every need. By declaring, "Not my will, but thine, be done," by clinging to the thought expressed in the words of the beautiful poem by our Leader beginning, "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Poems, p. 14), and by knowing that there is only one divine Mind governing all, I have been freed to a great extent from the fetters of self-will which had deprived me of much peace and harmony.

During a severe testing time, which lasted over a period of several months, I seemed to lose faith in Christian Science and the desire to study, and was in utter mental darkness; but we are told in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 266), "Spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth;" and this was surely my experience, as I was forced through suffering to go back to the truth and to cling to it in spite of the testimony of the physical senses. Although the way seemed very dark and almost hopeless at times, I did not give up. Error constantly argued to me that I could not do any kind of work, and that I was helpless. Now I am able to do almost any kind of hard physical work when necessary, with very little physical discomfort, and with a song of praise in my heart to God, who has been so good to me.
