It is now sixteen years since my first healing in Christian Science, and I take great pleasure in writing this testimony in the hope that it may help others.

I was suffering from neurasthenia, insomnia, and heart disease, and had to give up my work. The doctors gave me medicine and did their utmost for me, but my condition only grew worse until I was considered incurable. In despair I consented to have Christian Science treatment, though antagonistic to my concept of it. My sister wrote to a practitioner, absent treatment was begun, and in a week I was healed. I shall never forget the experience. I was full of self-pity, sitting in a room alone, and saying over and over again to myself, "I shall never be well," when suddenly I realized that I was well and in reality had never been ill. I told my mother, who looked at me in amazement, as we knew very little about Christian Science at the time. When the doctor came in the morning he also was astonished at the change in me, and even more so when he was told that I had not taken any sleeping potion. The practitioner wrote to me nearly every day and helped me with her loving thoughts and encouragement. I began to read the Bible and Science and Health, and in a very short time I was able to return to my work, feeling better and stronger than I ever had.

Since that time I have had many sharp experiences, as the ailments tried to return, but I am thankful to say that, as I kept on reading the Bible and Science and Health, persistently knowing the truth, I gradually gained a sense of freedom and power I had never known before. I am most grateful for all the loving help I have had from nurses and practitioners and those in my home, and for a better understanding of God. I have also been healed of ulcers on my eyelids and skin irritation of long standing. Since I came into Christian Science my needs have all been met in a wonderful way.
