The real mistake that we make is not that we aim at happiness, but that we go at it in the wrong way. We try to get it by being selfish and materialistic, and by trying to take it at the expense of others....

It is said that we cannot get happiness by aiming at it. But that seems to me simply to come out of a spirit of fear and defeatism, based on the idea that it is only an accident if we get any happiness in life at all. The man who seeks permanent happiness must look to spiritual things.
