It is with the deepest and most sincere gratitude that I wish to tell of an experience we had in our home which proved beyond a doubt that God does meet our human needs. One Sunday afternoon my husband, our small daughter, and I were on our front porch, after returning from a short walk, when my attention was drawn to my husband, who was standing but seemed entirely senseless. I held him to keep him from falling, and our next-door neighbor, seeing that something was wrong, came over. After one glance she rushed away to call a doctor.
At first I hesitated as to just what to do, for my husband was not a student of Christian Science, although he had on previous occasions asked for treatment. I realized the need was very urgent, and as I had relied on this Science for myself and the baby for several years it did not take long for me to decide. I called a practitioner on the telephone and told her the conditions. I shall never forget with what confidence and assurance she spoke to me, and said she would come to our home as soon as possible. When I went back to my husband, I realized that truth was already at work, for I could see a great physical change for the better.
The doctor came and made his examination, saying that the condition was paralysis, and hemorrhage of the brain, and informed us that there was nothing to be done, as my husband could live but a short time; and if by chance he did live, he would be an invalid and unable to talk.
