[Original testimony in French]

I had been bedridden in a sanatorium for about three months when Christian Science was brought to my notice. Up to that time I had faced the prospect of two years of absolute immobility; and my parents were convinced that I should pass on any day. A friend wrote to me about Christian Science and sent me some French Heralds, in which I read the testimonies of healing. Then this friend sent me the textbook, and the things which I read in it were so different from what I heard around me that they made me ponder. For a long time I wondered where Truth was to be found. After a visit from this dear friend my decision was made; the truth was clear to me. A Christian Science practitioner, who was informed of my condition, wrote me and then gave me some treatments. I felt the benefit of this Science when some very painful incisions were made.
After twenty-one months of immobility I asked the attending physician if he thought I might get up, but he said I should spend at least six months more in bed. Nevertheless, I decided to leave. When I began to walk again I had some difficulty: it had been impressed upon us that this was inevitable. After some days I had trouble with my ankles also, but after a Christian Science treatment I was relieved. I returned to my family, and each member kept watching me, expecting any day to see me obliged to resort again to some material remedy; but that day never came! It is not possible for me to tell of the good that I received from reading our books.
After some months a large sore opened where there had been an abscess. After a number of treatments I was much relieved, but the sore was not healed. In spite of this I went to Paris to find work. I attended the church services regularly and went to see the practitioner. Little by little the sore closed and the suppuration ceased. What joy I felt when the healing was complete! This came about without any material remedy, and the medical law which demanded complete repose was not obeyed. On the contrary, I worked for ten to eleven hours every day. At the same time I was healed of a curvature, which bent the body forward and to one side. Now I do not wear an orthopedic apparatus, which was formerly deemed indispensable for support.
