With a deep sense of gratitude I wish to acknowledge the many wonderful benefits I have received through the study and application of Christian Science. It was presented to me at a time of great physical and mental need. I had given up all hope of ever being well again, having been told that I could not possibly live long, as every organ in my body seemed out of place; and my bowels were paralyzed. I suffered from insomnia, could eat only certain foods, wore various surgical appliances, and took drugs daily. Life was indeed not worth living!

I had always thought that God was a God of love, but I could not understand why there was so much sickness and sorrow in the world; and had often prayed to know the "why" and "wherefore" of life. One day, while contemplating these things, I met a lady who asked me to try Christian Science. I replied that I should be only too glad to accept anything that would help me to know more of God and to get back my usefulness as a wife and mother; so she lent me a copy of Science and Health, saying she would help me to gain an understanding of God and of His love to His children. I began reading at once and continued through most of that night, drinking in this wonderful truth. Within a few days I discarded the surgical appliances, began to sleep peacefully at night, and was able to eat all I desired; then on the tenth day I resolved to trust entirely in God, and threw away all drugs. From that moment my bowels were healed. I was again able to lead a normal life.

I wrote and informed my husband, whose work was in India, that I was healed, but he felt that he could not believe it unless I was certified "well" by the aforementioned surgeon. I therefore went to the surgeon, was thoroughly examined and pronounced "whole," and was furnished a written statement to this effect. This I sent to my husband, and within a short time I was again back in the East with my family. Since that healing the children and I have relied solely on God. They have been freed from whooping cough, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and influenza, all of which yielded to the power of Truth within a few hours. I hope that those who read this testimony may realize that "with God all things are possible," and that He is "a very present help in trouble."
