The Inexhaustible Source of Health and Strength
IN revealing to men the great truths of spiritual being Christian Science is showing them how spiritual power may be utilized. It is true that in the past there have been those whose faith in God enabled them, sometimes marvelously, to receive divine aid when they sorely needed it. They understood something of God's goodness and love, something of His power and law; and, having overcome self-will in a measure, they became obedient to that law and reaped the fruits of their obedience. The Hebrew prophets had this faith in and knowledge of God, and as the Old Testament shows, proved in many instances the availability of His law on behalf of themselves and others.
Christ Jesus had a profound knowledge of God and His law. It was this understanding, with the faith which necessarily accompanied it, that endowed him with power to do the wonderful things he did. He had, likewise, an extraordinary sense of his unity with God and, in consequence, a proportionate appreciation of the fact that he could utilize the power of God in the overcoming of all unlike good. Jesus knew, besides, that evil is a lie; and this enabled him to deny and overcome evil, whatever form the erroneous belief may have assumed.
Christian Science is giving to those who study it earnestly the same understanding and faith possessed by the Master. It is revealing to them the Science of being. Through it they are having made known to them the true nature of God and man, and the real nature of the spiritual law which governs man. The Christian Scientist never ceases to be grateful for this revelation, which teaches him the allness of God, the perfection of God, the truth that God is the origin of all that is good—of harmony, health, and strength; that He is the creator of man, and that man, as God's idea, is always in the enjoyment of harmony, health, and strength.
