I have every reason to give thanks for the teachings of Christian Science. A short time ago I experienced a wonderful healing for which I feel boundless gratitude.

I must say in advance that for six years I had heard nothing with the left ear. I consulted physicians and specialists to recover my hearing; but in spite of every effort on the part of the doctors, the resulting verdict was always the same, that the auditory nerve was entirely paralyzed and that I should never again hear with that ear. These statements made me very unhappy, but finally I reconciled myself to them, for according to human opinions there was nothing else to do. This condition was a great trial to me. Of course, it was less difficult at home with my family, because they made every effort to speak loudly to me; but when I was among other people and in society, I was doubly conscious of the trouble and it was a great hindrance. It often made me very discontented and unhappy, and I felt neglected.

Although I had known of Christian Science for years, it did not occur to me to ask for help for this. Then one day I had a visit from a friend and I poured out my trouble to her. She was greatly surprised and quite unable to grasp the fact that I had retained this error so long. She encouraged me and gave me a pamphlet to read. I studied the booklet and found that I could certainly apply to myself the truth which I read therein. Once more I got out my copy of the Christian Science textbook, which had been lying untouched for years; and I read the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly again and attended the services. In that way I became much freer and very happy. Also I firmly declared the truth that in God's kingdom nothing can be lost which rightfully belongs to man. However, in spite of this I did not have the desired results. Then I decided to ask for help, which was given me promptly, so that I went away from the practitioner comforted and full of hope. On the fourth day of the treatment I received my complete hearing.
