On page 167 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy has written, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." It was this statement, together with the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, that healed me of the morphine habit. I had been addicted to this false appetite for years, and had taken many medical cures. I also had tried in various other ways to rid myself of this insidious habit, but none of these efforts benefited me in any way. Finally, in my desperation, I took up the study of Christian Science, and sought the aid of a practitioner. At the time of my healing I was taking as much as twenty-five grains a day.

One evening, as I read the statement quoted above, I said to myself, "I know now that the only way I shall ever receive my healing is to rely radically on the healing power of Truth," so I took my stand and threw the morphine away. My healing followed quickly, and was permanent. In a few days I was able to be up and about my work. With this healing the cigarette habit and the desire for liquor vanished into their native nothingness. Christian Science helped me to overcome grief and disappointment at the passing on of a loved one. I have also been healed of a very distressing stomach trouble.

For these healings, and numerous other blessings, I am deeply grateful; also for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction.
