I had witnessed many healings through Christian Science in a family of relatives, and had seen its regenerating influence and "signs following" for years before I became interested enough to seek it for myself. When this time came I asked for help and received relief from pain very quickly. I then commenced the study of the textbook and read it over and over many times before the light of understanding came. However, I felt from the start that it was what I needed, and many blessings came through the study and application of it. Many valuable lessons were learned, much material thinking had to be dropped, and more spiritual ideas accepted.

In due time I was privileged to join The Mother Church in Boston, and a branch church, and also to enjoy class instruction. Teaching in Sunday school afforded me much joy and spiritual growth.

One healing in particular brought untold joy and freedom to me, for which I am most grateful. For many years I had suffered from fallen arches, and had accepted the verdict that I had to wear clumsy, heavy arch supports. I was miserable without them and never comfortable with them. Then, under the stress of circumstances, I was placed in surroundings where it seemed necessary to exercise much love and patience, and it was necessary to put into practice many admonitions of the master Christian in his beautiful Sermon on the Mount. I had read and admired these teachings, and thought that I had put them into practice for years; but this case needed a constant reversal of suggestions of the absence of love. The words from our revered Leader's poem "Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, pp. 4, 5) constantly came to me:
