Christian Science came into my home when I was a very small child, and since then has been my only physician. However, for many years my experience was very similar to that of the children of Israel in the wilderness. Time after time I was saved from the results of my own folly, yet I murmured against the demands of Truth, and, turning my back upon what I knew to be the safe way, I repeatedly plunged into error, seeking happiness and freedom through material pleasures. Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 241 of Science and Health, "He who refuses obedience to God, is chastened by Love." So my condition was one of pain, confusion, and disappointment. I was finally driven to the point where, like the prodigal son, I decided to arise and go to my Father.
Since then the way has been growing brighter, and the pathway plainer. While to mortal sense the road is still rough and the goal seems a long way off, I know that I have made some progress, and that no power on earth can prevent my attainment of that peace which comes from the destruction of the claims of evil.
Christian Science has healed me of hernia, nasal catarrh, influenza, malarial fever, and many other bodily ills, as well as destroyed the desire for and the use of tobacco and intoxicating liquor.
