Item of Interest

Inquiry is occasionally made by branch churches in regard to the number of inscriptions from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" which may properly be used on the walls of their edifices, also how they shall be signed.

Mrs. Eddy, on page 214 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," sets forth three quotations from Science and Health, one of which may be chosen by branch churches. A branch church may, after selecting one of these citations for the walls of its auditorium, repeat it on the walls of its Sunday school room if it so desires; and it may use as many selections from the Bible as it decides to inscribe on the walls of the edifice. There is no selected list of Bible quotations from which to choose.

The Christian Science churches at Concord, New Hampshire, and at New Bern, North Carolina, have on their walls different inscriptions from Science and Health, but in these instances Mrs. Eddy personally selected them and granted permission for their use.
