The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA (First Church).

Lecturer: James G. Rowell; introduced by George S. Goode, who said:—

It is recorded that Jesus of Nazareth sent forth twelve apostles, commanding them to preach, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." Christian Science is again bringing to the world the Christ, Truth, which heals and regenerates. I am one of many thousands of living witnesses of this great truth. In the year 1922, while a tubercular patient at a sanatorium, I opened the Christian Science Hymnal and read from Mrs. Eddy's Communion Hymn (Poems, p. 75):

" 'Tis the Spirit that makes pure,
That exalts thee, and will cure
All thy sorrow and sickness and sin."

From that moment it was my desire to know about this healing truth. I was not only healed of sickness and sin, but was lifted above a very great sorrow.

My friends, is it any wonder that students of Christian Science are filled with gratitude, and are eager to share these blessings with their fellow men?
