Right Desire

BECAUSE my being everlastingly
Is in Thine image, and to do Thy will
Sustains me, for Thou gently leadest me,
I know Thine omnipresence, and am still.
My heart's desires I bring to Thee, O Lord,
An unselfed offering, tender, loving, pure;
For Thee to mold, to shape in deed and word:
So that I may be absolutely sure
Thou guidest me, enabling me in love
To help Thy children as my heart desires.
And thus the furnace of my zeal may prove
Aglow with consecration, heavenly fires.
Father, if such desires be of Thee
I know that naught can hinder, naught destroy:
I know that perfect and eternally
I, in my place, may serve with holy joy.
All worldly hopes I willingly resign,
For, living lovingly, Thy will is mine.
