Genuine Business Acumen
A RELLIANCE upon mere material things and means, popular theories, statistical forecasts, human hypotheses, "the wisdom of this world," self-will, manipulation, and trickery, always fails of real success, and can contribute nothing permanent to social harmony, economic peace, or business stabilization. Because of recent industrial experiences large numbers have turned to seek more certain means of business sustenance and success, and have found the much-needed relief through an understanding of God and of man's relationship toHim. In Christian Science we learn that God is Mind; also that real business is God's business—good business. Reliance upon divine Mind for productive ideas brings peace, fruition, and success. Those who depend upon divine Mind to direct and guide home, business, and government affairs have much cause for gratitude, because they are sustained and advanced in proportion as they understand, serve, and glorify God.
The intuition, clearness of vision, spiritual intelligence, sagacity, and wisdom possessed by spiritual thinkers are within reach of all. In every age those who have been obedient to spiritual law and receptive to divine guidance have been led by spiritual intuition, the "still small voice," to the demonstration of good, manifest in provision, freedom, health, success, and prosperity.
Joseph, whose consciousness we may infer was habitually filled with love and a desire to know and do good, received recognition as a wise and prudent thinker. His spiritual alertness, acumen, and fidelity to God earned him high honors, and prepared him to accomplish a great work in advance of and during a severe famine. It is obvious that he relied entirely upon divine guidance, and therefore exercised unusual wisdom, intelligence, and foresight in the administration of the needs and affairs of Egypt.
