I wish to express my gratitude to God for our dear...

I wish to express my gratitude to God for our dear Leader, who gave to the world Christian Science, the Comforter, which heals mankind of all manner of disease. I have proved this to be true many times and in many ways.

My first healing was of hernia of some years' duration. I had decided to have an operation, but one day the thought came to me to try Christian Science. I consulted a practitioner, and in a few days the outward manifestation and the intense pain left me completely. I was very grateful for this, as I had had much pain when standing or walking.

Another healing, which was instantaneous, was of several warts on my fingers. No specific treatments were given for this; the healing took place at the time a practitioner was relating to me her healing of the same trouble. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for this healing, as this difficulty was so unsightly and caused me much embarrassment.

This healing truth has proved equally efficacious in the solving of financial problems. A few years ago I found myself without any visible means of support, and with a large home and garden to maintain. I called a practitioner for help. This problem was of long duration, but I did not lose my home or gardener. Many bills were outstanding, but I was not annoyed in any manner for the payment of them. When the small sum of money which I had for living expenses was depleted, I did not know where to turn; but the practitioner assured me that with God's help the need would be met, and it was. A helpful thought which comforted me many times during this experience is found on page 307 of "Miscellaneous Writings": "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for tomorrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment."

I also wish to express my deep gratitude for the patient practitioners who are always ready to give us comfort in our hour of need. I am grateful for every activity of The Mother Church, for membership in this church and in a local church, and for our periodicals. I humbly give thanks to God for Christ Jesus.
