My family and I have received many blessings from the experiences of others as related in the testimonies in Der Herold. Out of gratitude for this aid I too should like to tell of a physical healing, in the hope that I can thereby help many.

One morning several years ago I felt quite ill. The pain in the abdomen kept getting worse; so I went to a doctor to get a diagnosis. He said it was appendicitis and strongly advised me to have an operation at once. This verdict had a crushing effect upon me, and I returned to my family and went to bed. My wife at once telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. The practitioner called on me in the afternoon, and after we had had a short talk together about man's true being, and with a single present treatment, all pain disappeared. A long time afterwards the same error tried to overtake me again; but soon after the practitioner was called all pain vanished, and it has never again appeared.

From this experience we learned how important it is not to give any reality or power to the claimed mesmerism of mortal mind. And now, indeed, we understand what Christ Jesus meant when he said to his disciples, "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
