I feel it a duty and a privilege to express my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and our Leader, for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me.

Since childhood I had never known what it was to be free from some ailment, and after intense suffering for over sixteen years from what the doctors called bronchial asthma, weak lungs, and generally weakened condition, being under treatment by specialists for many months with only temporary relief, Christian Science was brought to my attention; but I was reluctant to turn to it for help, not understanding that "with God all things are possible."

About that time my mother came to visit me, and we decided to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting at The Mother Church. There we heard two testimonies of healing of a trouble from which my mother was then suffering, which the doctors called lumbago and an acute form of rheumatism. She had been dependent upon some member of the family to put on and take off her shoes and stockings morning and night for several weeks. These testimonies gave her hope and courage, and on returning to her home she asked for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and was entirely healed in three weeks.

While I accepted her healing as wonderful, still I resisted the glorious truth until three years later, when, hearing our family physician tell my mother that I could not go through another winter in the eastern climate and live, I became thoroughly discouraged. I was suffering severely from one of the bronchial attacks at that time, and at last realized that "man's extremity is God's opportunity;" and then I was willing to call a practitioner. Help was given and I slept soundly all night, waking the next morning completely healed, and have had no return of the trouble. One morning two years later he who had been our family doctor dropped in to see how everything was going with us, and remarked how well I was looking. He asked if he might examine my lungs. I allowed him to do so, and he found them quite sound.

I have also been healed of insomnia, sprained ankle, hay fever, extreme sick headaches, sciatica, and neuritis in an aggravated form which had lasted over a period of months. Faults of character such as selfishness, self-pity, impatience, and resentment have been overcome through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings of Mrs. Eddy.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction, and for the blessed opportunity to serve in the activities of this practical Christianity, which gives positive proof of God's power and presence when faithfully applied.—(Mrs.) Maude Stuart Hack, Roxbury, Massachusetts.
