The author of the booklet, as quoted by "Pew" in a recent issue, gives such a totally inadequate impression of the teachings of Christian Science in regard to "Christ" that with your kind permission I should like to give a fuller explanation of the wonderful spiritual import the word "Christ" has for Christian Scientists. On page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy defines "Christ" as follows: "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." Jesus demonstrated Christ and thus became the Saviour of mankind by proving that Christ, Truth, sets men free from all the ills of the flesh, destroying sin, disease, and death. The Christian Scientist's love for and gratitude to Christ Jesus is increased greatly by understanding, through the teachings of Christian Science, the full significance of his promise that the impersonal Saviour, the Christ, would always remain with us—"Lo, I am with you alway." It is the realization and utilization of the divine, ever present Christ, which is restoring, through Christian Science, the lost but essential element of Christianity, namely, divine healing.
