With a heart full of gratitude which words fail to express...

With a heart full of gratitude which words fail to express I submit my testimony to the healing power of Christian Science and the benefits derived therefrom. As a child I was subject to bilious attacks, often accompanied by chills and fever, and constant attacks of neuralgia. In 1910 I went to live with a lady who was then looking into Christian Science in the hope of gaining her healing. One morning she saw that I was suffering and asked me if I would try Christian Science. I consented, as I had been in constant pain with an attack of neuralgia for about a fortnight, and had tried all kinds of material remedies with little or no relief. She told me to read the first chapter of the Bible. I had been taught to read my Bible and loved it; but I had never been taught to read it to find freedom from pain. I do not remember very much of what I read at the time, but I had a wonderful sense of uplifting which remained with me throughout that day. In the evening the pain again seemed as bad as ever and I looked for some remedy to ease it. I took up first one thing and then another. Remembering how often I had applied them with no permanent relief, I finally turned my back on them all and decided to depend on God for my healing. These words from the Bible came to me, "With God all things are possible," and I very soon fell asleep. I shall never forget the next morning; it was a beautiful spring day and the sun was shining into my room. I sprang up with a heart full of joy. I knew I was healed. That was the end of the trouble.

Soon after this the book Science and Health was lent me. I have now been a student of it for many years. I am more grateful every day to Mrs. Eddy for her wonderful discovery, because by working faithfully we can learn to love God and our neighbor as ourselves.—(Miss) Miriam Cook, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England.
