Love the Provider

Come, thankful heart, God's near and dear
And faithful care adore!
Let joy too at the feast appear,
In radiant thought hold bright and clear
Love's ever present store.

Here find a generous table laid,
In presence of thy foes.
With brimming cup too, unafraid,
Take the provision Love has made,
Love, that no famine knows.

We may not pray God to command
Such things as matter craves;
Our Father's patient, tender hand
Leads on, until at length we stand
Where Spirit clothes and saves.

Our need has neither place nor part
In mortal thought nor snare:
Those taught of Spirit dwell apart,
Proving the quiet, steadfast heart
Forever in Love's care.

Men shall not live alone by bread
Love leads and lights the way:
They love, who seek to be Love-led,
They others feed, who'd be Love-fed;
