I have great cause to be grateful for Christian Science...
I have great cause to be grateful for Christian Science because it has regenerated me. My first healing was of the habit of smoking, indulged in for more than ten years. Absent treatment was asked of a practitioner whom I had never seen, and in about two weeks I was free. After studying the textbook of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy for about eighteen months, I woke up one day to the fact that I did not care for intoxicants any more. I was grateful then, and am still more so now, for these healings. I am also grateful that I am beginning to see more clearly that the husks of materiality do not satisfy, and that Principle, Truth, alone can and does bring full satisfaction.
A healing for which I am most grateful is that of sacrosciatic trouble. This healing was complete in about a week. For five days I was unable to stand up straight, but with the help of absent treatments I was able to do my work uninterruptedly. Before coming into Christian Science I had massage and electrical treatments for this condition, and found it impossible to do any work for weeks.
I have also been healed of grippe, fear, unhappiness, and dishonesty. I have learned to be kinder, more loving, and more patient towards children in my care and towards my fellow man. I am grateful for every treatment I have had in Christian Science; for the consecrated work done for me by practitioners; for class instruction; for every activity of this great movement; and, above all, I am grateful to God for His infinite goodness to man.
