Eleven years ago, while working on a building, I stepped...

Eleven years ago, while working on a building, I stepped on a nail which penetrated through my shoe into the foot. The superintendent on the work insisted upon my going to a doctor to have the wound dressed, but I declined. I continued at work all day, and at night on going to my room I washed the wound clean, and did my mental work as we are taught in Christian Science. Everyone had expressed the thought that blood poisoning would develop; and it did. I kept at my work each day, although the foot and leg had turned black. I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner in another city, telling her of the condition and asking for help. Inside of two weeks from the day of the accident I was perfectly healed. I did not lose one hour from work during this time, and when Wednesday and Sunday came I was able to lace my shoe and go thirty-four miles to the church services. This healing was a mystery to the superintendent and others, but it proved that God is "a very present help" and our only protector.

I am also grateful for the healing of the tobacco habit, after using tobacco for over forty years. This healing took place overnight, with never a return of the desire to use tobacco. I have also been healed of a very quick temper, and of colds, headaches, and corns.

I am very grateful for the protection I have had while driving a car; for membership in The Mother Church, and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who through much love and patience gave "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to the world; also for class instruction and for loving help from a practitioner.
