I desire to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for all the activities of the Christian Science churches. These words from the Bible came to me very clearly one day: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." For about a week they were in my thought, and I derived much comfort from them. One night when working late, I was waiting for my daughter, who usually came to go home with me, and a fellow worker expressed fear because she was late; but I denied the suggestion. However, when my fellow worker had gone home and I was alone, fear attacked my thought; but I endeavored to replace the wrong suggestion with the right thought expressed in the above quatation, which had been with me all week. Then it was as if a voice said to me, "Is it well with the child?" And I felt so uplifted and so sure of God as a refuge that I was able to say, "It is well." For a little over an hour I affirmed this truth.

Just before the time to leave a message came to ask if my daughter was with me, as someone resembling her had met with an accident. I prayed for guidance. Help came along, and we found that she had been taken to the local hospital. I went to the hospital at once, and the nurse allowed me to stay for the night. My daughter's clothing had not been removed, for the doctor and nurse were gravely concerned as to her recovery, and they were waiting for some signs of returning consciousness. I am so grateful for the light shed on the teaching of Christ Jesus by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. While they were busy in the ward I was able to be alone with my daughter behind the screen, and I thank God for the strength which came to me. This wonderful passage from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, helped me so much (p. 298): "Angels are pure thoughts from God." I knew that God was sending angel-thoughts to sustain me through that night of watching and waiting, and I was also helped by other references from Mrs. Eddy's writings and the Bible.

The next morning the nurses were able to remove the torn clothing and settle her in bed. God's angels led me to a loving, faithful practitioner, who commenced working for her at once. In twelve days I was able to bring her home, happy and free; and a small mark near the pupil of the eye disappeared a few days later. The fear of losing eyesight and hearing, and of internal injury, was overcome by the faithful work and understanding of divine Love so courageously held to by the practitioner, and the fear expressed to my daughter that she might be permanently disfigured was routed.
