I am indeed grateful for Christian Science, because I know it heals discord of every name and nature.
It was a few years after I had been left with two small children to support that the man holding the mortgage on my home said he must have the principal of this mortgage by the end of the week. He was very unloving and threatened many things. I appealed to a relative in a near-by city who was connected with a Building and Loan Association. He said the mortgage was a good one, but that no Building and Loan Association would take it because my signature was the only one that was available and that was not sufficient.
By that time I felt I was driven up against a stone wall with no avenue of escape. I read and studied Christian Science, but never really thought of its healing such a situation. I felt, however, that I must have peace of mind, if nothing else, so I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked her if I could see her. I shall never forget the atmosphere of her office when I stepped into it. It was full of love, peace, and happiness. I told this friend my story, saying I was about to lose my home, and she immediately declared, "You can lose nothing." She said she would do what she could for me and asked me to use the twenty-third Psalm. There was more cause for joy, for I did not have to wait until I reached home to read this Psalm, as I had known it from the time I was a very small child.
