In your issue of November 20 there appeared an article entitled "Notice to the Public, in which it was stated that the writer, a doctor, had studied the art of healing in Christian Science and hypnotism, and other methods.

The fact that the doctor has classified Christian Science with other forms of healing, and particularly with hypnotism, may be misleading to your readers. I therefore wish to say that while the doctor may have read some Christian Science literature, he is not an authorized Christian Science practitioner, as will be found by reference to the list of authorized Christian Science practitioners in The Christian Science Journal, published monthly by The Christian Science Publishing Society.

Christian Science healing is the direct opposite of any action or suggestion of the so-called human mind, and should not be confused with mental suggestion, psychology, mesmerism, or hypnotism. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes on page 111 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The Principle of divine metaphysics is God; the practice of divine metaphysics is the utilization of the power of Truth over error; its rules demonstrate its Science."
