I am very grateful that I am privileged to know something...
I am very grateful that I am privileged to know something of the teachings of Christian Science, and that I can look forward to a future growing more and more bright in proportion to my increase in understanding of its truths. It has done nothing but bless me for nineteen years.
One of my first healings as a child was of constipation, through application of Mrs. Eddy's words in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 283), "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." At this same age I seemed tormented by a great fear when giving piano recitals. After several performances during which a practitioner was helping me, I played without fear and with enjoyment. Since then I have never experienced stage fright.
After graduating from college I studied dancing to support myself. The demand was for toe dancers. My arch was the type considered very weak, and many shook their heads during my rehearsals; but as I realized, through the aid of a practitioner, that God was my strength, not matter or muscle, the demonstration of dominion was made, and I worked successfully for a number of years. The Bible story of the beggar whose feet and ankle bones received strength immediately was very helpful in making me realize that our strength is ever present if we but claim it. I was healed of an infected toe. Another demonstration for which I am grateful was the healing of a sprained ankle. I did not miss any performances, though to the eye the ankle appeared much enlarged. The words from Science and Health (p. 107), "Immanuel, 'God with us,'—the sovereign ever-presence," proved the unreality of any material law to keep me from extending my foot, though I did not do all the steps for about ten days. Love has never failed to sustain me and to place me in the position that was best for me.
