Christian Scientists
the world over are today concerned in the common task of bringing to prompt and harmonious completion the building of a new Publishing House in keeping with the growth and needs of our Cause and with the growth and needs of The Christian Science Publishing Society.
Many
a spiritual meaning, hidden in seemingly obscure passages of the Bible, is disclosed to students of Christian Science for their advancement in understanding Truth.
In
the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, are to be found references to Deity as the author of all that is good and true, that is, of real substance, and other references giving, conversely, a clear statement concerning that which is not authorized by God.
Ah
, Mary! with your eyes all blind with tears,Not knowing death's harsh mortal dream withdrawn;Turn from your agony, your groundless fears,And see the dawn!
Richard O. Shimer, Committee on Publication for the State of Indiana,
In your issue of November 20 there appeared an article entitled "Notice to the Public, in which it was stated that the writer, a doctor, had studied the art of healing in Christian Science and hypnotism, and other methods.
Ralph W. Still, Committee on Publication for the State of Texas,
Owing to widespread and growing inquiry into the subject of mental and spiritual healing, it is important that the bases of such healing be understood.
Miss Kathleen O'Connor, Committee on Publication for Somersetshire, England,
As it will hardly be possible to give a detailed reply to each of the letters on Christian Science in your recent issues, I propose to sum up the position as follows:
The
lack of a clear and consistent concept of the Christ is one of the first few reasons why most people, even Christians, have failed to get and to give the full benefits of the Christian religion.
How often do men seem to be the slaves of circumstances, suffering from sickness or the effects of evil doing! Think of the fear that haunts many of them with regard to disease, fear lest they may become victims of it, lest they may contract it perhaps by contact with an unhealthy environment.
"Water boy! Water boy!" is not heard from the workmen building the new Publishing House, because when the second whistle blows, announcing, "Start work," and the men take up their duties, two boys carrying full pails of clear, cold water begin their rounds.
In accordance with the plan which has been followed for several years, a meeting of members of Monitor Advertising Information Committees will be held in the original edifice of The Mother Church on Tuesday, June 7, at two o'clock.
Having received so many benefits, morally and physically, through the healing power of Christian Science, I should like to express my deep gratitude by testifying to some of these healings.
I am very grateful that I am privileged to know something of the teachings of Christian Science, and that I can look forward to a future growing more and more bright in proportion to my increase in understanding of its truths.
