I wish to relate my experience in Christian Science
I wish to relate my experience in Christian Science. When I was little I could not walk on account of my crippled condition, as I had a bone disease; I could speak but a few words; and it seemed that my condition was hopeless. When I was about four years old, a Christian Science practitioner was told about me and she took me to her home to help me. I had been there but a short time when I had a serious illness which lasted for three weeks. I was then healed in Christian Science, and after that I began very rapidly to walk and talk. Gradually my bones straightened. During the next few years I had a number of children's diseases, such as whooping cough, measles, pink eye, smallpox, scarlet fever—all of which were quickly healed in Christian Science. Since then I have been in perfect health.
Two of my permanent teeth, one in front and one on the side of the upper jaw, did not come in, and four dentists declared that they could never come down without the use of instruments, and that this would take months to accomplish on account of the crowded condition of the jaw. Through the application of the truth the two teeth appeared.
My first lesson in Christian Science was to find the word "God" and its synonyms in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I also learned many prayers, and to sing all of Mrs. Eddy's hymns. I had the Lesson-Sermon read to me every day. From the first I loved page 559 of Science and Health, and asked to have it read to me often. At the age of seven I began to read the Bible references in the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly; at eight I began to read the whole Lesson alone, and have done so ever since. I am now thirteen years of age. I have attended the Christian Science Sunday School and the Wednesday evening testimony meeting with but few exceptions during the nine years. I read The Christian Science Monitor every day, and can hardly wait until it comes. I always read the testimonies in the Sentinel.
