For the activity, joy, and peace which I have been privileged to enjoy during the past five years I wish to express my sincere gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave to the world Christian Science, which is a demonstrable and practical religion.

I had not been able to sleep, unless under the influence of some drug, for a period of almost four years. There was scarcely anything left which I was permitted to eat because of the suffering which I experienced, and even a drink of water caused me great agony. There was not an organ in my body which seemed to function normally. During this time my eyes also were affected and I was required to wear glasses.

Physicians and surgeons in the eastern as well as in the western part of the United States were unable to be of assistance to me, and when no help was gained from chiropractic, osteopathic, and electrical treatments, a loving friend presented Christian Science to me with the assurance that I could be healed by it.
