Instantaneous Healing

In the year 1866 the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, while reading the Bible, had an immediate recovery from serious injuries resulting from a fall on the ice. This event marked the beginning of a new era of liberty for sick, sorrowing, discouraged, suffering, and sinful humanity, for with it came to Mrs. Eddy increased inspiration to discover the divine Principle and rule governing healing. True to her ideals she proved her love for God and her loyalty to mankind by giving to the world the final revelation of God and His image and likeness, spiritual man.

This instantaneous healing was not the result of a casual reading of the Scriptures, but was realized by our Leader after many years of devotion to the study of the Bible, which led her to become sufficiently spiritually minded to apprehend the truth about God, man, and the universe. Like Solomon of old, she prayed for understanding, and her prayer was answered in the revelation of God as Love, whose divine ideas express harmony, perfection, peace, and sinless joy.

To one not well informed on the subject of Christian Science practice, instantaneous healing by spiritual means may seem incredible. But after one has experienced such healing there arises naturally an interest deep enough to lead one to the source of reliable information, which of course, is the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Studying this "key," together with the Bible, with righteous, loving determination, thousands upon thousands are learning how to demonstrate the omnipotence of Truth. Children are naturally qualified to grasp and retain the lessons which Christ Jesus taught; and as they understand in a degree the true nature of God and exercise their faith in Him they are able to heal themselves of ills and to extend this blessing to others.
