Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

France.

The Publication Committee has been gratefully aware that The Christian Science Monitor is fulfilling in France the same mission as in other countries, the mission for which our beloved Leader founded it. It is indeed a herald of the Christian Science movement to the outside world. The mention of our paper to editors who know it, or copies shown to those who do not, brings instant respect, and is often the Committee's strongest asset. Whether editors can read English or not, the appearance of such a great international daily is a proof to them at once of the dignity and importance of the Christian Science movement. The editorial corps of this country must have much influence in forming French opinion.

A famous preacher delivered a sermon in which he slurred Christian Science, extracts from which appeared in several papers. The Publication Committee wrote an answer. When one of the editors was interviewed and had read the letter he said: "There is one thing about you Christian Scientists—I believe you never attack." He insisted that he would send the letter to the preacher, while at the same time he asked for a card for our next lecture.
