In reply to a correspondent writing in your issue of January 9, let me say that Christian Scientists are learning how to think as Jesus thought. A close study of his life and sayings shows that the basis of his thinking was the infinitude of God, Spirit. This was the premise of his every thought, and his conclusions conformed to this premise. He did not believe in both good and evil as realities. He knew that good alone is real, and that evil is the suppositional absence of good. He gave neither place, nor power, nor reality to the personification of all evil, called the devil. The confused thought of the world today arises from the philosophy of the serpent, which is always wrong and states, "Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Christian Scientists acknowledge God, divine Love, to be the infinite Principle of the spiritual universe, and man, the image and likeness of God, to be the spiritual expression of God's being; and they are endeavoring to conform their every thought to this fact. It was Mary Baker Eddy who rediscovered the method by which the Founder of Christianity was enabled, through his correct thinking, to heal the sick and reform the sinner, and she has given to the world this method in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Countless thousands, through the study of this book in conjunction with the Bible, are emulating, according to their spiritual understanding, the works of the prophets, Christ Jesus, his disciples, and the early Christians.
