At a time when nearly all the conversation one hears is...

At a time when nearly all the conversation one hears is concerned with the strenuous times, I cannot help but turn to the contemplation of the many blessings we as a family of seven have received since taking up the study of Christian Science.

About ten years ago a dear friend brought Christian Science to my attention when I seemed to be fearful of everything; but I soon began to prove the truth that "perfect love casteth out fear," and with the lessening of fear healings were accomplished. The first healing was of a diseased bone behind one ear. The pain left as this friend was explaining the truth to me one evening, and soon all symptoms had disappeared. Another instantaneous healing was of an internal trouble from which a doctor had told me I should never find relief except through a surgical operation.

Since then we have all had innumerable healings—of colds, influenza, ulcerated teeth, mumps, effects of accidents, earache, chicken pox, whooping cough, measles; and two of us were healed of goiter. Most of the healings were accomplished through the consecrated study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also of the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly.

I feel so grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us this understanding of Christ Jesus' teaching that enables us to overcome every inharmony with which mortal mind would try to afflict us. I also wish to express my gratitude for membership in The Mother Church, and in a branch church, and for the Christian Science periodicals, which have helped me so much to get an understanding of the truth. My hope is that I may grow into a worthiness of the name "Christian Scientist."—(Mrs.) Dona I. Hobart, Yelm, Washington.

I am glad to verify the above testimony, and to tell some of the blessings Christian Science has brought to our home.

It was in 1898 that we first heard of Christian Science. I was greatly in need of help, having been a semi-invalid for about fourteen years. My husband became interested at once, and would often read passages from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, that he thought would be helpful to me, but I was very much opposed to what I thought Christian Science to be.

I had been subject to hay fever for many years, and having lost faith in medicines and doctors I was left with nothing to hold to when I became ill with this disease in the spring of 1900. While I was thinking about this condition, the longing came to know if there really was anything in Christian Science, and a voice seemed to say to me, Read the eighth chapter of Romans. This was in the morning and I was churning, but I stopped at once and got the Bible and read that chapter. Then the desire came to know what Mrs. Eddy would say about it, so I got Science and Health, opened it, and began to read. I became so interested I forgot everything else, forgot my body, the pain and suffering. Truly I was "absent from the body" and "present with the Lord." When the children came home from school for lunch and I laid the book down, I found I was perfectly well, and I have never had a return of the ailment.

This is only one of the many healings I have had since taking up the study of Christian Science. I was healed of consumption—supposed to be inherited—just by reading the textbook; of pneumonia with one treatment; and of typhoid fever in a very short time with no bad after effects; also of cramps, colic, sick headache, a bad disposition, and fear of almost everything. For all of this, and much more, I am indeed grateful; also grateful that I have been able to help others with the understanding I have of Christian Science. I am indeed grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to all who have helped me to understand this great truth.
